Ed è quello che abbiamo fatto anche noi, alla Fondazione che riunisce gli undici musei civici di Venezia di cui sono presidente dal 2015.
Sono stati mesi difficili, iniziati ancor prima dello scoppio della pandemia, perché la città, tra le prime mete turistiche al mondo, si è svuotata a partire dal 12 novembre 2019 quando le immagini della straordinaria acqua alta hanno fatto il giro del globo.
Mesi in cui, con i miei collaboratori, ci siamo trovati a dover prendere decisioni difficili, come chiudere i musei, senza però mai spegnere i “motori”, pronti a riaprirli al primo segnale di ripartenza.
Ho fatto ricorso alla mia indole di condottiera (in azienda ho una foto che mi ritrae insieme ai dipendenti con la bandiera dei pirati), educata da mio padre a “resistere” (lui l’ha fatto per sopravvivere al campo di concentramento). Con determinazione, tirando fuori anche le unghie, ho continuato a lavorare a distanza, grazie a un’infinità di ore trascorse in video conferenza, motivando lo staff a non perdere mai di vista l’obiettivo della riapertura. Con fatica siamo riusciti a tenere viva la fiammella, con lezioni, visite guidate e didattica online, motivando anche le decisioni più difficili: la cassa integrazione a cui abbiamo fatto ricorso è stata lo strumento per salvare il lavoro.
Abbiamo lavorato pancia a terra, senza mai farci distrarre anche delle critiche e polemiche, tenendo fisso lo sguardo sul nostro unico obiettivo: riaprire i musei, sicuri che dopo la paura e l’angoscia la gente avrà grande voglia di inebriarsi di bellezza.
Il 4 settembre prossimo inaugureremo a Palazzo Ducale la mostra “Venetia 1600. Nascite e rinascite”. Sarà il nostro speciale dono al compleanno di Venezia, sarà il nostro modo di dire al mondo che la città, come è già avvenuto nei secoli passati, è rinata anche stavolta.
Il lungo silenzio, iniziato con l’acqua alta del 12 novembre 2019, e poi proseguito con la pandemia, è terminato. E Venezia, con la sua straordinaria bellezza, sarà protagonista di questa rinascita.
Ho imparato molto in questi mesi, soprattutto dai collaboratori che lavorano con me in Fondazione nati e cresciuti a Venezia. E proprio insieme a loro che abbiamo voluto proporre per l’anniversario dei 1600 anni una grande mostra che fosse una lettura inedita della storia della Serenissima: nel concetto di nascita e rinascita si identifica un innovativo modello interpretativo del passato, per re-immaginare un futuro possibile e ottimistico.
La storia è maestra di vita, e i 1600 anni di Venezia sono un patrimonio di insegnamenti. Conoscerla è un dovere per chi è convinto che, dopo la pandemia, sia arrivato per l’umanità il momento di voltare pagina. Cioè di rinascere.
