È stata la prima volta nella storia, dopo ben 634 anni, che, il 2 luglio scorso, per la Festa patronale della Madonna della Bruna a Matera, il carro storico della sfilata, è stato realizzato da quattro donne artigiane materane, giovani e virtuose: Elena Mirimao, Annalisa Di Gioia, Luigina Bonamassa e Laura D’Ercole. È tradizione che il carro sfili per le strade di Matera in occasione della festa patronale e che venga distrutto, come è consuetudine, in piazza Vittorio Veneto, durante il tradizionale assalto. Il manufatto per il 2023 è stato realizzato, come sempre, in cartapesta e seguendo il tema di quest’anno: “Donna, ecco tuo figlio – Qualsiasi cosa vi dica, fatela” – Dal mistero dell’Eucarestia ai ministeri della Chiesa, che sono i versi del vangelo di Giovanni. L’incarico alle quattro artiste materane è stato dato lo scorso 10 dicembre da parte dell’associazione “Maria Santissima della Bruna”, al termine di un bando di concorso nazionale. Abbiamo intervistato Elena, Annalisa, Luigina e Laura.
Cosa vi ha spinto a partecipare alla selezione per la realizzazione del carro per la Festa della Bruna 2023?
Luigina D’Ercole: La cosa che ci ha spinto a partecipare alla realizzazione del carro 2023 è stata sicuramente la Parola scelta dalla curia ” Donna ecco Tuo Figlio”, “Qualsiasi cosa vi dica fatela”. Ci ha spinto a metterci in gioco, attraverso la meditazione, la ricerca e il progetto. Rappresentare tutti i materani per noi è stato come ritrovare la festa dentro, sentendoci parte integrante della stessa…Dopo aver compiuto gli studi artistici presso il liceo artistico di Matera, ho viaggiato per realizzare delle scenografie in alcuni villaggi del Sud Italia e ho affiancato scenografi che mi hanno insegnato tanto. Poi, una volta rientrata a Matera, ho lavorato in uno studio di arte e design facendo dei corsi di specializzazione.
Da quando è nata la festa, per la prima volta vengono state scelte 4 artiste donne per questo progetto. Perché è accaduto proprio ora?
Elena Mirimao: Classe 1984, ho seguito gli studi presso il liceo artistico nella città di Matera. In passato ho avuto l’onore di collaborare alla realizzazione della costruzione di altri carri trionfali in onore di Maria santissima della Bruna affiancando il grande maestro cartapestaio Michelangelo Pentasuglia e facendo altri tipi di esperienze sempre nell’ambito della cartapesta nella nostra città. Finora, e per 633 edizioni, alla realizzazione del carro si erano sempre alternate famiglie di Mastri cartapestai uomini. Forse perché il ruolo di artiste e artigiane non “spettava” alle donne, alle quali si chiedeva di star a casa e badare ai figli mentre il marito pensava a lavorare. Fatto sta che oggi la società è profondamente cambiata e le distinzioni di ruolo vengono meno sempre più spesso e in sempre più ambiti. L’identità, il saper fare, il talento delle donne vengono riscoperti e valorizzati proprio perché per la prima volta abbiamo la possibilità di dimostrare le nostre capacità e qualità. Credo di poter affermare che crediamo di più in noi stesse e con il nostro operato confermiamo che si possono ricoprire ruoli importanti pur restando donne, mamme e mogli.
Come siete state selezionate?
Abbiamo partecipato a un bando di concorso pubblico, dove in anonimato sono stati presentati i progetti dei vari candidati. Una commissione presieduta dall’architetto Amerigo Restucci, Rettore dell’Università di Architettura di Venezia, coadiuvato da ingegneri, architetti, teologi del territorio e alla presenza di un notaio hanno valutato i progetti tenendo in considerazione lo sviluppo del tema evangelico, l’armonia cromatica, l’architettura e le proporzioni del bozzetto. Ecco, in base al punteggio assegnato a ogni parametro, ala fine il nostro progetto è risultato vincente.
Come vi siete incontrate tra di voi e quali sono le vostre attività artistiche?
Laura D’Ercole: Elena ci conosceva tutte da tempo, è stata lei il collante tra di noi. In particolare noi due abbiamo frequentato il liceo Artistico insieme. Inizialmente ha deciso lei di voler partecipare al bando per la presentazione del bozzetto, ci ha chiamate e ci ha chiesto se avevamo voglia di farlo insieme a lei. Ci siamo incontrate per parlare tutte insieme e organizzarci. Tutto questo è accaduto intorno a metà ottobre 2022. Il 2 dicembre scorso abbiamo consegnato il nostro bozzetto e, poco dopo una settimana, abbiamo saputo che avevamo superato la selezione.
Partecipare da donne e vincere alla realizzazione del carro della Bruna 2023 vi ha un po’ cambiato la vita?
Annalisa Di Gioia: Certamente, ci ha permesso di intercettare e incoraggiare tutte quelle donne che, con orgoglio, si sono sentite rappresentate da noi. Ci auguriamo di aver innescato anche solo in minima parte quei processi che porteranno altre a intraprendere con coraggio percorsi ancora non calpestati da donne. In virtù di questo, anche la nostra vita è cambiata: abbiamo acquisito più sicurezza e determinazione e siamo sempre più intenzionate a realizzarci professionalmente. Questa festa 2023, tutta al femminile, ha dimostrato un nuovo volto delle donne lucane più determinato ed energico ma sempre accogliente e sorridente, pronte a metterci in gioco con competenza e professionalità.
