Non ho avuto un attimo di esitazione sul tema di questo mio intervento, tanto il mio pensiero in questi ultimi giorni ha avuto come unico destinatario l’amico di sempre, Antonio Catricalà.
Non sapevo da dove partire: tanti, troppi anni di confidenza, condivisione, stima, risate e amicizia non sono riassumibili e alla fine è anche bene che restino in una sfera personale, nel cassetto degli affetti più cari.
Poi ho pensato al suo contributo per il mio ultimo libro Donne che fanno la differenza e ho capito che il modo migliore per ricordare Antonio erano le sue stesse parole. Di un’attualità imbarazzante. Ve le lascio come dono per me prezioso.
«In questi trent’anni di vita della Fondazione Bellisario ho visto piantare il seme della parità uomo-donna. L’ho visto piantare in un terreno arido come il suolo italiano, infestato da una cultura patriarcale dura da estirpare: ci sono voluti 33 anni dal varo della Costituzione perché venissero abrogati il delitto d’onore e il matrimonio riparatore! Quel seme oggi è germogliato, ha prodotto cambiamenti rilevanti come la legge sulle quote rosa che senza la determinazione di Lella Golfo, anima della Fondazione, sarebbe rimasta un semplice progetto sepolto negli archivi degli uffici parlamentari. Quel germoglio però ha bisogno ancora di cure attente perché resta molto da fare.
La valorizzazione delle eccellenze femminili, rappresentata dalle tante Mele d’Oro che in questi anni ho avuto l’onore di consegnare, è uno strumento ma non il fine. Non basta che le donne siano rappresentate nei Consigli di Amministrazione: occorre che le retribuzioni non risultino costantemente inferiori a quelle maschili, che la maternità non sia un handicap, che il lavoro di cura non pesi unicamente sulle spalle femminili. Serve che quel germoglio cresca e diventi un albero saldamente impiantato, con robuste radici, nel terreno culturale italiano.
Per questo tutti, donne e uomini, dobbiamo augurare alla Fondazione almeno altri 30 anni di vita: senza il suo contributo quel soffitto di cristallo che impedisce al genere femminile di occupare posizioni di massima responsabilità, e nel quale si iniziano a vedere vistose crepe, non potrà mai essere demolito».
E aggiungo le righe di conclusione della Prefazione che Antonio scrisse per il mio primo libro Donne ad Alta Quota.
«Lella Golfo mi ringrazia, nel suo libro, per i consigli che le ho dato durante la battaglia parlamentare sulle quote di genere. E teme che possa risentirmi perché ha fatto il mio nome. La tranquillizzo: non mi adiro. Se non fossi stato convinto che la sua era una battaglia giusta per smuovere equilibri incrostati, non l’avrei aiutata. Anche io, come lei, non sono un Signor Sì».
