Nel 1944 scrittori, giornalisti, poeti, e un industriale, sotto la guida di Maria Villavecchia Bellonci iniziano a far battere il cuore a quello che poi sarebbe arrivato fino a noi come il più fascinoso premio letterario italiano. Perché il grande amore comune di Maria con Goffredo aprirà la loro casa privata alle relazioni e passioni pubbliche, e poi sempre di più, coinvolgerà il Paese in quel rapporto con gli amici della Domenica.
Con Maria Bellonci, tre anni dopo le belle riunioni, nasce il Premio Strega, che quest’anno, l’otto luglio 2021 avrà il suo 75esimo vincitore o vincitrice. Ad oggi sono state 11 le donne: Elsa Morante, Natalia Ginzburg, Anna Maria Ortese, Lalla Romano, Fausta Cialente, Maria Bellonci, Maria Teresa Di Lascia, Dacia Maraini, Margaret Mazzantini, Melania Gaia Mazzucco, Helena Janeczek.
In alcuni casi varrebbe la pena andare a scoprire chi sono, cosa scrissero, e in che Italia. Mentre i salotti delle nostre case non sembrano più pronti a ospitare letterati, artisti, come se fosse un gusto elitario e antimoderno. Del resto, la casa che siamo tornati ad abitare questi mesi più del solito, ci ha isolato, protetto dal mondo esterno, e in mezzo a noi vi è stato uno schermo. I libri adornavano le pareti a cui molti erano di spalle nei collegamenti, nelle riunioni a distanza.
C’è anche un libro in gara che ha la parola “casa” nel titolo. “Il libro delle case”, edito Feltrinelli, ritirato fuori da qualche cassetto di qualche anno prima, mentre il lockdown ne rinforzava il significato.
Chi scrive è stata in lizza per il Premio Strega e la sua protagonista la vedeva bene al Quirinale. Ma in entrambi i casi forse c’è il segno dei tempi – se vogliamo – perché con Andrea Bajani vi è l’uomo “casalingo”, non me ne vorrà, un grande collega che nei miei ricordi di gioventù presentò anche uno dei miei saggi, nella sua Torino, al bellissimo Circolo dei lettori, organizzato da altre giovani firme, donne e uomini, che per le battaglie e le cause perse di una generazione cercavano disperatamente alleati fuori.
L’uomo che ritrova i suoi spazi in casa e la donna nelle Istituzioni, sintetizzando drasticamente. E il tema della casa è sicuramente uno di quelli con cui ci sentiamo in guerra: i lavori casalinghi, la conciliazione, la cura, il welfare, l’homeworking, e soprattutto i confini, tra pubblico e privato.
Chi tra noi donne non si è sentita a disagio a ricevere inviti “lavorativi” a casa? Siamo state ragazze tanto disinvolte ai tempi della scuola a vivere i “compiti a casa” con i compagni e gli amici, e tanto a disagio da professioniste, perché?
Nel frattempo, mai come in questo secolo senza Maria Bellonci, ci mancano, come direbbe Dacia Maraini, così tanto quelle frequentazioni, che vanno oltre i Premi, i Festival, le presentazioni.
