LA GRAZIA FERMA DI SETTE DONNE AL COMANDO DELL’EUROPA

Sanna Marin, premier finlandese, 36 anni, progressista, un figlio, divenuta due anni fa il capo del governo più giovane del mondo, è l’immagine perfetta di tutto ciò che Vladimir Putin mai si sarebbe aspettato di ritrovare una volta aggredita l’Ucraina: un occidente coraggioso, tosto, unito, reattivo, desideroso di dimostrare ai nazionalismi autoritari la presenza nel mondo di un ventre tutt’altro che molle a difesa delle democrazie liberali. Sanna Marin, che guida un paese invaso dall’Unione sovietica nel 1939 e che ha storicamente fatto della neutralità militare un proprio tratto distintivo, ha scelto di aderire “senza indugio” alla Nato, perché le operazioni violente della Russia, che con la Finlandia condivide 1.300 km di confine, «hanno modificato l’ambiente di sicurezza europeo e anche quello finlandese». Sanna Marin, che ora dovrà trovare buoni alleati nella Nato per evitare che la minaccia di Recep Tayyip Erdogan, presidente turco, di votare contro l’adesione della Finlandia (e della Svezia) alla Nato possa diventare realtà, è però il simbolo di un fenomeno ancora più interessante che misteriosamente non ha fatto presa nel mondo femminista: il numero elevatissimo di donne che si trova alla guida dei grandi processi di un mondo nuovo e che tenta di guidare con forza, visione e intelligenza una generazione di uomini e donne che prima dell’Ucraina non aveva mai fatto i conti prima con la libertà messa in pericolo da una guerra vicina.

Il ventre forte dell’occidente è Sanna Marin, ovviamente, e con lei ci sono tutte le altre. C’è Roberta Metsola, 43 anni, quattro figli, conservatrice, che da presidente del Parlamento europeo ha contribuito a far schierare la maggioranza dei deputati Ue a favore di una mozione importante: embargo totale e immediato sulle importazioni dalla Russia di petrolio, carbone, combustibile nucleare e gas, richiesta di un tribunale speciale delle Nazioni Unite per i crimini di guerra in Ucraina, accelerazione per la consegna delle armi per permettere all’Ucraina di difendersi contro l’esercito di Putin. C’è Kaja Kallas, 44 anni, tre figli, liberale, figlia di una madre deportata all’età di sei mesi dall’esercito sovietico in Siberia, che da capo di governo dell’Estonia ha deciso di optare per un embargo totale del gas, del petrolio e del carbone russo e lo ha fatto sulla base di una motivazione tosta: «Il gas può certo essere molto costoso, ma la libertà non ha prezzo». C’è Ingrida Simonyte, 47 anni, liberale moderata, premier della Lituania, che è stata il capo del primo governo europeo a fermare le importazioni di gas dalla Russia, gas definito «tossico» dalla stessa premier, ed è stato il capo del primo governo europeo a cacciare dal suo paese i diplomatici russi ancor prima che lo facesse il resto dell’Europa. C’è Magdalena Andersson, 55 anni, due figli, socialdemocratica, premier della Svezia. La quale Andersson dopo aver annunciato la decisione “eccezionale” di spedire cinquemila lanciarazzi anticarro all’Ucraina, prima fornitura di armi a un paese straniero dal 1939, da quando cioè la Svezia mandò sostegni militari alla Finlandia per aiutarla a reagire all’aggressione sovietica, ha scelto di fare lo stesso passo mosso dal premier finlandese e cioè uscire dalla stagione della neutralità per entrare nella stagione della Nato. C’è poi Mette Frederiksen, 44 anni, due figli, socialdemocratica, premier della Danimarca, che ha spinto il suo paese a votare il prossimo primo giugno un referendum importante, sulla partecipazione del paese alla cooperazione europea in materia di sicurezza e difesa interrompendo una lontananza dall’Unione europea che risale al 1992 quando la maggioranza dei danesi votò contro il Trattato di Maastricht. E c’è poi, seppur appartenente a un’altra generazione, Ursula von der Leyen, 63 anni, sette figli, tendenza popolare, che da presidente della Commissione europea ha guidato le istituzioni europee verso un impegno senza precedenti nella fornitura di armi a un paese assediato, l’Ue come ha annunciato l’Alto rappresentante Josep Borrell è pronta a portare a 2 miliardi di euro il supporto finanziario per la fornitura di “armi pesanti” all’Ucraina, e ha dato il là a uno stanziamento senza precedenti a favore di sicurezza e difesa: in totale 43,9 miliardi di euro con un aumento del 123 per cento rispetto al ciclo 2014-2020. La grazia ferma delle donne al comando dell’Europa, in battaglia contro il bullismo nazionalista, è forse l’immagine più forte, più evocativa, più moderna di una società aperta capace di mostrare ai regimi illiberali il suo amore straordinario per tutto ciò che Putin mai avrebbe pensato che sarebbe stato difeso a tutti i costi dall’occidente libero: i suoi diritti, i suoi doveri, la sua democrazia, la sua sicurezza, la sua libertà. Ci sono sette donne, in Europa, che stanno riscrivendo i confini dell’occidente libero. Trasformarle in un simbolo di emancipazione sarebbe una sciocchezza. Non trasformarle in un simbolo dell’Europa che cambia sarebbe però un delitto. Che aspettiamo?
