Questa volta mi permetterete di disquisire di reali e di una donna, in particolare, Sua Altezza Catherine, principessa del Galles, prossima regina d’Inghilterra.
Non sarà un articolo di gossip, al contrario: l’intento è quello di riflettere sul tentativo in atto, bieco e odiosamente maschilista, di addebitare a lei ogni colpa di ciò che sta accadendo nel Regno Unito e che rischia di travolgere la corona intera.
Senza decenza, sul corpo di una donna, sul corpo di Kate, la famiglia reale e buona parte dell’opinione pubblica mondiale sta scaricando il futuro della monarchia britannica. E il gioco riesce facile perché il capro espiatorio è, appunto, una femmina.
Il “balletto” dura da dicembre, quando Palazzo annuncia cha la principessa sarà sottoposta a una delicata operazione all’addome. Dopo l’intervento, la prognosi: tre mesi di riposo assoluto, Kate ricomparirà in pubblico dopo Pasqua, tutti gli impegni ufficiali sono annullati.
Sulle spalle della principessa pesano ogni anno almeno 300 impegni: la sua assenza dunque si fa sentire con fragore, la Famiglia perde la sua punta di diamante. E questo già dà molto fastidio, perché – insomma – una destinata a diventare regina e che si è sposata proprio per questo non si può dare malata e sparire così. È il pensiero odioso e comune che inizia a circolare.
Parte la ridda delle ipotesi, crudeli e senza fondamento.
In barba a ogni tipo di privacy, qualcuno rivela che Kate sarebbe stata in coma e avrebbe rischiato di morire per i postumi dell’operazione. Nessuna smentita giunge da Palazzo e la girandola delle illazioni si gonfia di giorno in giorno.
La principessa ha un tumore. Anzi no, la principessa ha perso il quarto figlio ed è in preda alla depressione. Meglio, è in cura per la depressione perché il marito William la tradisce da tempo con un’amica di famiglia, la marchesa di Cholmondeley. Ogni maldicenza scalfisce letteralmente il suo corpo: che dopo tre gravidanze, cosa vuoi, è indebolito. E poi, anche se li porta bene, Kate ha già 42 anni, non è più una ragazzina. È fragile, i suoi nervi sono tesi, William le preferisce una più giovane.
Non ho letto nulla che somigliasse a un pensiero compassionevole nei confronti di questa donna e madre malata oberata di responsabilità. E nulla che richiamasse invece William alle sue responsabilità di futuro re e di marito e soprattutto di uomo.
I social si scatenano. Kate finisce alla gogna, bersagliata per ogni colpa che non ha, compresa quella (smentita dalla stessa marchesa) di essere tradita.
Sarà forse per rispondere a questo attacco senza uguali che la principessa pubblica, sempre via social, una foto che la ritrae sorridente con i tre figli, a dimostrare che sta bene, che non è impazzita. Lo scatto viene distribuito dalle maggiori agenzie fotografiche del mondo e finisce in prima pagina su ogni giornale. Come si dice, la pezza si rivela però peggio del buco, perché la foto risulta subito ritoccata, è un fake. Le agenzie declassano, prima volta nella storia, la famiglia reale a “fonte poco attendibile” e la maldicenza riparte ancora più infuocata: ecco la prova, la foto è falsa perché Kate sta malissimo. Chissà com’è diventata se non vuole farsi vedere, sarà magrissima, sarà ingrassata, avrà fatto un lifting, sarà senza capelli…. Una battaglia di gossip di nuovo sul suo corpo.
A corte scoppiano ore di panico furibondo: ci vuole immediatamente un’altra pezza, questa volta definitiva. Ed ecco che è sempre la principessa Kate, il giorno dopo, a chinare la testa e chiedere scusa al mondo: sono stata io, fotografa dilettante, a ritoccare la foto. Mi dispiace per la confusione che ho creato.
È lei a essere sacrificata, lei a essere esposta da sola e in prima persona al giudizio del mondo. Lei che, “povera donnetta”, non sa nemmeno ritoccare una fotografia; è lei che ha fatto di testa sua, scavalcando i responsabili reali delle relazioni pubbliche.
Per quel che ne so io, Buckingham Palace ha più addetti stampa che gradini sugli scaloni, o fiori nei giardini: penso che mai la principessa avrebbe potuto agire senza consultarli. E mai e poi mai avrebbe potuto farlo senza avere il permesso di William.
Che l’errore della foto fake sia stato pessimo per l’immagine della monarchia è sicuro, che l’abbia commesso Kate nella sua cameretta di dolore non è credibile. Io credo invece che glielo abbiano accollato, “tanto peggio di così non può andare”.
E la storia finisce, in attesa del prossimo capitolo, con altri due dettagli di nuovo imbastiti sul corpo della stessa donna.
Una fonte, ritenuta attendibile, rivela che Kate è stata sottoposta a ileostomia, cioè alla deviazione di un tratto dell’apparato digerente che la costringe ad avere un sacchetto attaccato all’addome. Non si fa vedere perché si vergogna della sua condizione, dicono le anime buone.
In risposta, la principessa si lascia ritrarre in una panetteria a pochi metri dalla sua residenza di Adelaide Cottage, a Windsor, mentre fa una piccola spesa con il marito William. Lui è impassibile con cappellino e giaccone, lei sorride pallida, senza cappotto. Non so chi possa mai credere che la coppia reale vada normalmente a piedi a fare la spesa, anzi proprio che vada a fare la spesa.
So invece che anche quest’ultimo frame è giocato sulla pelle di una donna fiaccata da tanto tiro a segno, in tuta nera così da esporre la consunzione del fisico, senza trucco nè acconciatura; una donna che offre il proprio corpo ai flash per placare gli assetati.
Nel tentativo di sopravvivere, forse, a una macellazione peggiore.
