In varie città sono partite proteste pacifiche per chiedere la riapertura in sicurezza delle scuole, gli studenti hanno deciso di farsi sentire, vogliono essere ascoltati, vogliono tornare in aula!
La Fondazione Bellisario si è rivolta ai giovani dando loro parola, per comprendere come il Covid-19 abbia influenzato le loro vite e per dare spazio alle loro proposte per il futuro.
Abbiamo avviato un’inchiesta che in questo articolo e nei successivi ci porterà ad approfondire le seguenti tematiche:
- didattica a distanza e scuola superiore come luogo di apprendimento e di relazione
- stati d’animo e socialità in questo periodo pandemico
- giovani universitari e accesso al mondo del lavoro.
In questa prima parte ci siamo rivolti a ragazzi e ragazze delle scuole superiori tra i 14 e i 18 anni, in modo da tracciare un bilancio dei mesi di didattica a distanza.
Per la maggior parte di loro, la scuola non è solo un luogo in cui imparare, ma anche un luogo di socializzazione e relazione:
«Un luogo in cui socializzare, stringere rapporti e imparare non solo nozioni didattiche ma anche a vivere».
«Il luogo dove si formano le persone sia a livello culturale sia sociale e che permette di confrontarsi con realtà diverse rispetto a quella che viviamo in ambito familiare».
Se devono scegliere tra didattica in presenza o a distanza, esprimono la loro netta preferenza sulla presenza, in sicurezza! Sono perfettamente consapevoli dell’importanza della tutela della salute, tuttavia vogliono anche la parte relazionale con insegnanti e compagni e sono d’accordo sul fatto che l’aula consenta maggiore attenzione e concentrazione:
«Sono pienamente pro alla didattica in presenza poiché ritengo che sia l’unico modo per imparare e per fare scuola, nel vero senso della parola».
«No alla didattica a distanza, perché non è possibile mantenere la concentrazione su uno schermo per 5/6 ore di seguito. Perché molte persone non hanno i mezzi per seguire in modo adeguato. Perché a livello umano manca la socialità (limitata alla messaggistica), indispensabile in questi anni di formazione».
Ci siamo chieste come la situazione che stanno vivendo stia cambiando la visione o l’idea che hanno della scuola:
«La mia idea è sempre la stessa, ovviamente in DAD ci sono molti più problemi a livello di socializzazione e studio poiché stando a casa è più difficile rimanere concentrati».
«La mia visione della scuola non è cambiata, è cambiato solo il modo di viverla».
Cosa si aspettano i giovani studenti dal futuro della scuola e quali sono le loro proposte?
«Finita la pandemia, mi aspetto che venga apprezzata maggiormente quella che era la “scuola di prima”, ma credo che le istituzioni e i professori si debbano impegnare a colmare le lacune che sono state evidenziate in questo periodo».
«Spero che la scuola tra qualche anno sia un luogo che, oltre a insegnare e permettere di relazionarsi, dia una maggiore attenzione a quelle che sono le idee di noi giovani, permettendoci di prepararci al futuro che ci attende».
Ci hanno anche raccontato come stanno vivendo questo periodo dal punto di vista emotivo:
«Penso che questa situazione ci abbia spinto a isolarci un po’ dalle altre persone, è stato quasi alienante».
«È un periodo demoralizzante, una stessa giornata che si ripete ormai da un anno».
Questo è un aspetto che necessita di essere approfondito e ascoltato dagli adulti, soprattutto per l’intensità di quello che dicono.
