KELLYANNE CONWAY: Dօn’s back! Here’s his neѡ 2024 blueprint

And iit was the ѕame story ԝhen we worked togetһer in the Ԝhite House.
Ԝhile Jill Biden һas insisted on beіng ⅽalled ‘Doctor’, Melania ѡas admired ɑnd beloved by the political and permanent
staffers alike, аsking after their children byy name, welcoming thеm to
events bіɡ and small, and treating them wіth inclusivity and respect.

Known as а protectiive and present mother, Melania now uses heг memoir to cɑll out the ‘sheeг malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie О’Donnell who,
іn 2016, tweeted despicable аnd totally unfounded claims аbout
    Barron, tһen aged 10.

It was јust weekѕ after Trump һad stunned the world аnd won, and the same liberal media аnd Hollywood types,
ԝһo perpetuaated еveгy vicious attack agaіnst him, reveled as O’Donnell’s
vile lie wormed іtѕ wаy aⅽross social media.

Ιt wаs a shock to see sucһ naked cruelty tⲟwards a First Child, especіally wһen so
many of us haad treated Chelsea Clinton аnd the Obama daughters ⅼike Fabergé eggs.

Kids (including mine) ѕhould alԝays Ƅe off limits.

But іnstead of goіng to war, Melania ahted swiftly aand
tenderly tо shield her son. She channeled maternal outrage іnto a first lady’ѕ focus on initiatives centered aroud children’ѕ wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Ηeг ‘Bе Βest’ campaign remaіns a highlight of hеr

Melania hass neνеr been one foг preening aand posturing.

Вehind ϲlosed doors, Trump has, fоr decades,

Ꮤhether as аn international business mogul, а TV star or, lately, leader

Trump enjoys thhe cmpany оf plenty of friends, takіng a range ⲟf advice, ƅut he
speaks of – and to – Melania in an entiгely unique ԝay.

Ꭱeally, hе fedars үet reveres hеr. He respects hеr independence, seeks hher input, trusts

Ι һave witnessed tһeir relationship up close, аnd
іt is one fundamentally built oon mutual love and respect.
Recеntly, as Barron ѡaѕ heading off for college ɑnd Melania
waѕ preparing t᧐ publish һеr memoir, І jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to᧐ Ƅe the sеcond moѕt popular man and the

Melania Trump һas plenty to ssay ɑnd notһing to prove.Ⴝhe is not a typical political

  46. Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is at the
heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves?

In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that the major
parties look set to come together to support.

The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals
can donate, caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to prevent the equivalent of
an arms race, and a $90million limit on what any party
can spend at an election – actually less than the major parties currently spend.

The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations, thus
increasing the transparency of who makes political donations in the first place.

So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using their cash
to influence election outcomes – and the extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be
    limited.

The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.

At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made
    – but you only find out the details of who has given what to whom
many months later, well after elections are won and lost.

In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much greater transparency and far
less big money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.

Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’
with the policy and warned the reform would ‘not stop the rot’

Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning shot – saying
if it serves only the major parties ‘it’s a rort, not reform’. Teal
independent ACT senator David Pocock (right) said: ‘What seems to be happening
    is a major-party stitch-up’

Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as opposed to $16,000 under the current rules,
will need to disclose having done so. And how much they can donate will
    be capped.

Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and
    ‘a rort, not a reform’.

They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal just might secure the support of the
    opposition.

I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this column.

Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major parties closer to accountability.

    More fool me.

The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being
put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers.

It makes you wonder what they have to hide.
Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too
    much on this issue.

Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors such as Clive Palmer

Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder Simon Holmes à Court

The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules
(Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator Mehreen Faruqi are
    pictured)

The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes
of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals.

And we know the Greens have taken massive donations
from the wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules.

Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of
virtue are running a mile from reforms that will curtail dark
    art of political donations.

The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules
to take effect immediately, by the way. It won’t be some sort of quick-paced power play before the next election designed
    to catch the crossbench out.

They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for
    them.

Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want
to go over the laws with a fine tooth comb.

As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor
to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only the unions are capable
of taking advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come.

But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented, the crossbench
should offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.

They might even be able to offer something worthwhile
that could be incorporated in the package.

To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary about being in politics to ‘clean things
    up’.

  47. Nothing signals the start of winter quite like the return of the
Fair Isle knit. Once considered ‘ugly’ knitwear we’d only pull
out from the back of our wardrobes as an alternative to a
Christmas jumper (especially the red-nosed reindeer kind à
la Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’s Diary) or for a winter
sport holiday (specifically for après-ski), the Fair Isle jumper has now become somewhat of a fashion statement.

The knit is named after the small, eponymous Shetland Island in Scotland and uses a traditional knitting technique to create those
distinctive patterns with multiple colours. It was brought into vogue by
an earlier Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) in the 1920s,
and has remained a casual wardrobe staple for members of the Royal Family,
including Kate Middleton, whose jumper collection includes at least three different Fair Isle designs.

    Kensington Palace

Another fan of the nostalgic knit is Alexa Chung, who recently layered a Fair Isle vest by Molly Goddard over a light blue button-down in a snap for Instagram.

The It-girl previously also wore a V-neck vest from Cotswolds-based knitwear brand Cooking Apple, and
sported a chunky Fair Isle crewneck with white, straight-leg jeans, black loafers and an oversized,
black leather blazer to ring in the festive season at private members’ club in London last year.

A host of designers have dropped Fair Isle-inspired knits for AW24, proving the multicoloured jumpers have become a timeless investment.

  48. Smile 2 – starring Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage and Jack Nicholson’s son Ray – emerged as the
winner after a horror movie box office showdown.

The fright flick eclipsed hot contender Terrifier 3 for the top spot.

The Smile sequel starring Scott, 31,  as a pop
star who begins experiencing terrifying and inexplicable events as she prepares for a world tour, opened wide in more than 3,600 theaters, pulling in a payday of $23 million.

Ray, whose mom is Nicholson’s former partner Rebecca Broussard, shocked
fans with an eerie grin in the new movie, which was near-identical to the Oscar-winner’s maniacal
smile as Jack Torrance in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining.

In a legendary scene, an insane Jack hacks at a bathroom door with an axe as his cowering wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) screams inside.

As he busts a hole in the door, he sticks his face through, grins and exclaims: ‘Here’s Johnny!’ in an improvised line.

The original Smile, released in September 2022, and
starring Sosie Bacon, was a sleeper hit, which was well received and earned $217,408,513

The musical is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to the publication.

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about

LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7 (Reuters) – Germany’s economic model is not broken but Europe’s
biggest economy has lost competitiveness over the past decade, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Monday.

“We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,” he told
journalists ahead of a Eurogroup meeting.

The German economy is expected to contract by 0.2% in 2024, an economy ministry spokesperson said on Monday, cutting the forecast from a previous projection of 0.3% growth
    this year.

If realised, this would be the second consecutive year of contraction for Germany’s economy, which was
the weakest among its large euro zone peers last year with a 0.3% decline in gross
    domestic product.

Lindner said the government was introducing supply-side measures to try to return the economy to growth.

“After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,” Lindner said, adding that the growth initiative was just a first step for an economic turnaround, “but we have to build on it.”

    AMBITION NEEDED

Lindner said “ambition” was needed to keep EU public
finances in order, or to put them back in order where necessary.

“I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,”
Lindner said. “What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.”

Lindner said he could not comment on the French budget plans because he had not had the chance to talk with his French colleagues yet,
but he would do so on Monday evening.

“We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,” Lindner said.

“We must credibly reduce our deficits and our debt so that we can continue to finance ourselves well and in a stable manner.”

  60. Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store
offering shoppers ‘incredible’ deals on clothing, homewares, food, and electronics.

The temporary Vinnies locations have been set up around Victoria to help shoppers get through the cost of living crisis ravaging the country.

Vinnies, or the St Vincent de Paul Society, is a charity that works to provide support and
    assistance to people in need.

Most items are brand new stock donated by corporate
    partners including Christmas decorations.

Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags of Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes
    from Boston Bros.

    Shoppers will find men’s, women’s, and children’s
clothing, shoes from top brands, and even electrical
goods at the Vinnies pop-up locations.

Many have purchased vacuums, air fryers, Adidas shoes, printers, and kitchen knives from previous pop-up shops.

There is presently a location in Ascot Vale which is
open until 3 November, and another in Boronia which will remain open until Christmas
    – or until stock runs out.

Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering shoppers ‘incredible’ deals on clothing, homewares, food, and electronics

Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags of Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes from Boston Bros

A new store will open in Richmond at Dimmey’s
    on 7 November.

The themed Richmond location will focus on goods
for Christmas, summer, and the holiday season – but it will also include household items, Bric-à-brac, and electrical
    items.

Shoppers have shared their thoughts on the pop-up locations online.

‘They have all the trending products – it’s so awesome,’ one
    said.

‘I bought a hair dryer from Vinnies and I’m obsessed with it,’ another wrote.

‘I always have such good luck at Vinnies, I have to go,’ a woman added.

For those interested in the finer things, shoppers have
discovered a ‘hidden gem’ discount retailer where
you can find designer buys from brands like Fendi, Dior, and Aje for affordable prices.

TK Maxx – which has stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia – is the answer to buying new
clothes and shoes on a budget.

TK Maxx has stores in New South Wales , Victoria, Queensland and South
    Australia

Beth Zazlan, from Queensland, recently found a
gold mine of clothing lines from Australian brands
like Camilla and Marc, Acler, Bec+Bridge, Shona Joy, Dion Lee,
    Zimmerman, and Acler.

‘I was there for a pillow but I ended up grabbing some
sparkly earrings from [American jewellery brand] Badgley Mischka,’ Beth told FEMAIL.

TK Maxx sells old stock from previous seasons – and shoppers have described
it as a ‘clearance treasure hunt’.

Many have seen bags from Fendi, Dior, and Bottega Venetta on sale.

Others have spotted Gucci and Versace sunglasses, Hugo Boss
    accessories, and Christopher Esber dresses.

Beth said, ‘I was truly blown away – so if you’re looking for a
    bargain, head there.’

A David Jones employee revealed in a comment that discounted items from stores that aren’t
sold are shipped to TK Maxx.

  64. ‘Tis the season for decadence and a touch of sparkle –
and what better way to bring festive cheer than a fridge
full of fizz for parties and impromptu gatherings?

Champagne is admittedly my bubbly of choice – I love both poised, elegant styles with
brisk acidity and the richer, pastry-like, gastronomic pours.
But with Christmas all about sharing, toasting, and big
    get-togethers, stocking up is essential.

Consumer group Which? has named Tesco Finest Premier Cru Brut Champagne
the best Christmas fizz, outclassing Moët & Chandon’s Brut Impérial.

The supermarket fizz costs just £25 a bottle, but many popular
    Champagnes are priced over £40.

With that in mind, I’m sharing my secrets for sparkling swaps that keep both
the palate and the wallet happy.

    Bollinger Champagne, £58

Swap for? Langlois Crémant Brut Réserve NV, £15.95

    Saving: £42.05 a bottle

For Bolly bling without the sting, head to the Loire Valley, where the Bollinger family
crafts this Crémant using the same traditional method as their Champagnes.
Made primarily from Chenin Blanc, which thrives in the Loire, it
undergoes 24 months of aging, delivering a Crémant with depth that offers a
charming twist on Bollinger’s rich Champagne style –
    with change to spare.

    Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne, £280

Swap for? Roederer Estate Quartet NV, £32

    Saving: £248 a bottle

Renowned producer Louis Roederer is the name behind
the iconic Cristal Champagne – a prized choice among celebrities, especially when served in a flashy jeroboam,
complete with sparklers in the ‘VIP section’ of nightclubs.
But if the £270 price tag brings tears to your eyes, try Cristal’s Californian cousin, Quartet.
Crafted in the cool Anderson Valley, it offers a taste
of luxury for almost a tenth of the cost.

    Laurent Perrier Rosé Champagne, £80

Swap for? Morrisons The Best Crémant De Limoux Rosé NV, £12.50

    Saving: £67.50 a bottle

If you’re after something pink, grab this super chic Crémant de Limoux from Morrisons – delivering luxe for less.
With a delicate effervescence and notes of strawberries and cream, it hints at pink Champagne at
five times the price. And here’s a little-known fact: legend has it that the
art of fizz was first discovered in Limoux, in the South of France
    – though our friends in Champagne may disagree.

    Ace of Spades Champagne, £315

Swap for? Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Premium Cava, £12

    Saving:  £303 a bottle

For showstopping-style on a shoestring, skip Harrods, forget Jay-Z’s red-carpet-ready ‘Ace of Spades’ and head to Sainsbury’s
for Segura Viudas premium cava, complete with a shield
that’s delightfully close to a spade. For the price of one bottle
of that Champagne, you could bag 26 bottles of this classy cava – and, honestly, after a
few glasses, who’s noticing the difference?

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne, £89

Swap for? Fortnum’s Franca Contea Franciacorta Brut NV, £26.50

    Saving: £62.50 a bottle

‘Blanc de Blancs’ meaning ‘white of whites’ is the name for bubbles made solely from white grapes – typically
Chardonnay in Champagne, delivering elegance and finesse, à la Ruinart.
Prices have crept up as Blanc de Blancs become all the rage, but hop over the border to the hidden gem of
Franciacorta in Lombardy, northern Italy, and you’ll find complex, vinous
sips with plenty of flair, like this Fortnum’s pick.

    Pol Roger Champagne, £55

Swap for? Graham Beck Selection Sparkling Wine, £13.50

    Saving:  £41.50 a bottle

I served these delicious South African bubbles at my wedding – quaffed in record time, with nobody realising it
wasn’t Champagne. As well as my own big day, Graham Beck has made an appearance at state events for Nelson Mandela
and Barack Obama, earning it the title of ‘presidential pick’ for
sparkling wine. And you’ll save a few quid compared to other politician favourites, like Pol Roger.

The singer, whose hits include Bad Romance, Born This Way, Just Dance and Poker Face, is headed back to her pop persona following the September release of her album
Harlequin, which was inspired by her film, Joker:
    Folie à Deux.

Among the tracks on the album included two new songs,
and standards such as That’s Entertainment,
    That’s Life and Get Happy.

Like the film, it was not an initial commercial success, marking
her lowest ever entry for a full-length record on the Billboard 200 charts at number 20.

Joker: Folie à Deux saw Lady Gaga play Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, who earned the Best Actor Oscar
for his performance in the franchise’s 2019 film

But the sequel was critically panned and became a huge flop, with it being reported it ‘could
potentially lose $150 to $200 million’ despite studio insiders
    saying it would break even.

  66. SHANGHAI, Oct 9 (Reuters) – China’s yuan held steady
    against the U.S.
dollar on Wednesday, as investors awaited more stimulus from
the world’s second-largest economy and the Federal Reserve’s September meeting minutes due later in the day to gauge
its policy path. The dollar held steady, giving some
relief to the yuan after a sharp rally to a seven-week high last
    week.
Spot yuan opened at 7.0650 per dollar and was last trading 12 pips lower than the previous
late session close at 7.066. Prior to the market opening, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) set the midpoint rate, around which
the yuan is allowed to trade in a 2% band, at 7.0568 per dollar, only 3 pips weaker than a Reuters’ estimate.

China’s blue-chip CSI300 index dropped for the first time since Sept.

13, poised to snapping a 10-day winning streak, after
officials on Tuesday failed to offer much new on stimulus plans to
revive the economy. The yuan is down 0.7% against the dollar so far this month, due to
broad dollar strength, but the currency has 0.5% firmed for the year-to-date.

China equities’ recent rally has raised the bar
for an upside surprise from expected fiscal stimulus news, said UBS strategists led
by Rohit Arora, adding that the offshore yuan’s near-term risk reward is
unattractive. “Historically, fizzling of China equities’ spurts acted as a bigger drag on CNH vis-à-vis the tailwinds from equities’ surge,”
    the strategists said.

Nevertheless, market participants are still awaiting additional stimulus measures
that could help further lift China asset sentiment. Citi FX traders think the
offshore yuan could trade well if local equities remain supported, similar
to what happened in Nov. 2022 – Jan. 2023, according to the bank’s note to clients.

The offshore yuan traded at 7.0682 yuan per dollar, up about 0.09% in Asian trade.
    The dollar’s six-currency index was 0.039% higher at 102.53.

  67. Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely comfortable with posing nude during her modeling days.

In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how her nude photos were put on the cover of
The New York Post during the closing weeks of the
    2016 presidential election.

The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described
    it, ‘Menage à Trump.’

‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different perspective on nudity,
a more open and accepting attitude,’ she wrote.
‘We were accustomed to beaches where nudity was
commonplace, a natural and uncontroversial aspect of life.’

She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body in the United States were starkly different.’

Melania Trump at a Vogue event in 2000. She wrote in her
memoir Melania about her nude photographs shot for the French magazine Max in 1996
    used against her husband politically

The controversial photos were from a 1996 photoshoot from a now defunct French fashion magazine called Max.

‘The photos had never been circulated in the United States,’ she recalled.
‘The magazine that had originally published them had ceased to exist long before these images
were unearthed, and now they were being shared for
the sole purpose of damaging Donald’s campaign.’

She wrote that the photos ‘were not a source of shame for me.’

‘The female form was once revered and honored in Western culture.
Historically, artists produced magnificent paintings and sculptures that exalted the beauty of the feminine figure.
Nudity was a medium through which humanity was elevated and
    celebrated,’ Melania sid.

‘This sentiment resonated deeply with me when I posed for
Vogue during my pregnancy,’ she wrote.

Throughout the book she mentions her working relationship with Vogue and its longtime top editor
    Anna Wintour.

These days Wintour is actively supporting former President Donald Trump’s Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

A 1998 photo of Melania Trump depicting her in a white bikini.
The former first lady said she never felt shame about posing nude but was angered that her nude modeling
photos were used to try to hurt her husband’s first presidential campaign

‘I believed then, as I do now, that women should take pride in their bodies, not feel shame,’ Melania continued.

‘During my modeling days, posing nude was commonplace and hardly
scandalous,’ she said. ‘To me, those images were artistic and tasteful, fitting for a publication like Max, which showcased
    many renowned super-models.’

But there was another problem with the photographer selling the photos of Melania
to the newspaper – he originally said the photoshoot happened a year before.

‘This misinformation led to unfounded allegations that I had illegally
worked in the United States, a claim propagated by the New York Post,’ she
    wrote.

‘Although the photographer later admitted the error, the damage was done – sensationalized lies about me spread worldwide,
driven by a shameful pursuit of scandal and profit,’ the former
    first lady added.

  68. Adam Bandt said people ‘can make their own judgment’ about him enjoying an exclusive and discretionary
perk from Qantas during a tense exchange with a journalist live on radio.

The Greens leader has been outed as a member of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge, an invitation-only set of catered waiting areas and
services handed out by the airline in what has been called ‘Australia’s most exclusive
    club’.

Mr Bandt was challenged on Monday by ABC Radio National stand-in host Steve Cannane
that he was ‘enjoying free hospitality from a company that has illegally sacked hundreds of workers’.

Mr Bandt replied: ‘And I’ll declare that and people can make their own judgement about what they think
    about that.’

Cannane was referring to the Federal Court’s ruling that Qantas illegally sacked 1,700 workers
at the start of the Covid pandemic in a case brought by Transport
    Workers Union.

Commenting on the sacking in June of 2020, Mr Bandt called it a ‘devastating day for
thousands of Qantas workers & their families’ in a Facebook post.
‘We’re thinking of you,’ he wrote.

Cannane challenged Mr Bandt further saying: ‘You don’t think you should be a little purer on this and just not take their (Qantas’s) hospitality?’

Mr Bandt said he always made declarations about matters such as this and argued that the party’s
policies to tax big corporations heavily show the perks were not impacting the Greens.

How Greens leader Adam Bandt spent thousands on private
jet flights while lecturing YOU about climate change

Mr Bandt was spotted in September flying business class from Melbourne to Canberra seated
    next to Senator Jacqui Lambie.

Albanese government ministers Tim Watts and Catherine King were on the same flight but were with the masses in economy class.

It has been previously reported that Mr Bandt opts to frequently fly business despite his party’s core policy of
    cutting C02 emissions.

Flying business class emits about three times as much carbon as economy class because the
seats take up more room and more of them are empty, according to a World Bank study.

Fellow Greens MP Max Chandler-Mather last year said he had shunned a Chairman’s Lounge membership and refuses to travel business class.

Earlier this year Mr Bandt’s flying habits led to controversy.

Mr Bandt’s flying habits have been a previous source of
controversy after it was revealed he frequently opts for business class and
has even taken private jets to election events

Mr Bandt used two private jets during the 2022 federal election campaign,
landing tax payers with the $23,000 bill.

One flight was between Queensland regional centres Townsville and Rockhampton on March 7 but he
also boarded a $15,000 private plane along the well-travelled Brisbane to Canberra route
to attend his party’s election campaign launch.

Mr Bandt isn’t the only politician in the hot seat with Prime Minister Anthony
Albanese being asked if he has included both his son and
partner as ‘plus one’ Chairman’s Club members.

He is also being asked about free flight upgrades including an international one he is alleged to have received from Qantas in new book
The Chairman’s Lounge authored by former Australian Financial
    Review columnist Joe Aston.

The Greens are licking their electoral wounds after the
Queensland state poll, where they are battling to hold onto their two seats after stating they aimed
to triple their representation in parliament.

With 72 per cent of the vote counted they appear to have retained the Brisbane seat of Maiwar but suffered a 4.6 per cent
    swing to the ALP.

However, they remain behind South Brisbane, which has seen a
massive 12.4 per cent swing to Labor with 64 per cent of votes counted.

WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S CLUB?

The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved
by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.

It has been dubbed ‘the most exclusive club in the country’ and comes with a distinct black card.

Members include senior-ranking MPs including ministers, state premiers
and the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.

The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide but are not signed, you
have to know where to look.

Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool carpet and marble
flooring all bathed in natural light.

Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and
Australian wines. Wine bottles are often given as departing gift

Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of
    books and magazines.

Members may bring in two guests at a time.

Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is to board and your
personal preferences are logged for each flight. Membership also entitles
you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

  70. Bright and early, my old friend, the beauty and wellness entrepreneur Liz
Earle, is standing at my door clutching a Kilner jar with what looks
like a small sponge floating in murky water.

‘I made kombucha for you,’ she says with an enthusiasm I don’t entirely share.

(The sponge, it turns out, is the Scoby, or ‘symbiotic culture
of bacteria and yeast’, which is what’s used to ferment sweetened tea to make kombucha.

I don’t realise at the time, but this hideous thing takes weeks to develop and is in fact a very generous gift.)

The truth is, I’d drink (almost) anything if it gave me Liz’s zip.

At 61, a mother of five and a new grandmother, she honestly looks
20 years younger. Fans of her YouTube channel and her 170,000
Instagram followers will know how bright and smooth her skin is, but in person she is fizzing with energy, too.

Liz and I have been friends for 25 years – over which time she has somehow seemed
to gain in vitality as I, nine years her junior, have…
    well, deflated.

Beauty and wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, right, and Beatrice Aidin met back in the
1990s when they were both beauty journalists

So here’s my plan. I am going to Live Like Liz for a full eight weeks, morning to night, to see just how much I, too, can turn back the clock.

I am going to eat, drink and exercise like Liz, ‘ground myself’ in a flower bed in my pyjamas like her, and even tape
up my mouth à la Liz. From my gut to my hormones, my brain to
the very cells of my skin, I will follow the ‘bio-hacks’ set out in her new book A Better
Second Half: Dial Back Your Age To Live A Longer, Healthier, Happier Life, which
swiftly became a bestseller on its release this year.

Liz says it can’t fail, so long as I commit to it.

‘Who’s to say we can’t or shouldn’t change the way we age?’ she asks.

‘I was stronger, fitter and more capable in my
50s than I was in my 40s, so why can’t I be even more so in my 60s, 70s and beyond?’

Perhaps more significantly, after the ‘car crash of emotional wreckage’
caused by the breakdown of her second marriage,
and the divorce she went through in 2020, she now says: ‘I’m happier
    at 61 than I was at 40.’

Career-wise, it shows. When we met back in the 1990s we were both beauty journalists.
At launches for new products, I’d merrily down the free Krug while Liz sipped sparkling water.

‘Ah Bea, you were the yin to my yang,’ she says.

Now, her wellness empire has mushroomed… and I’m suffering major work anxiety, a not-unrelated financial crisis and severe sciatica.

Frankly, I look and feel knackered. My skin is dull and I have dark circles under
my eyes. Physical pain interferes with my sleep,
and I’ve been turning rather too readily to the sauvignon blanc to help me nod off.

Food is not a priority: I’m either not interested or craving sugar, which means I’m a good 10lb heavier than I should be.

So, can living like my rather fabulous friend make me feel as young as she looks?

More to the point – can I really stick to it, kombucha and all?

‘Come on Bea, get off your backside!’ Liz demands…

Liz (left) puts Beatrice through her paces in the gym.

Beatrice needs extra help with exercise because of her sciatica

Week one: I face up to my middle-age spread
Liz’s top-line diet philosophy is high-protein, low carb, meaning she’s a fan of lots of foods I love but didn’t
think I should eat: butter, unprocessed meat, avocados, good quality cheese,
    taramasalata and thick Greek yoghurt.

High protein helps us ‘shift to a leaner, more toned shape, and lose that middle-aged spread,’ she
    says.

Timing matters. Liz eats two meals a day – brunch around 11am and dinner at 7pm.
The order matters too: clear your plate of chicken before rice, because eating protein before carbs keeps blood sugar levels stable.

In recent years she has increased her coffee intake (before 2pm)
because studies show four to five cups is ‘strongly associated
with living longer’ thanks to the bioactives in coffee beans such as
    chlorogenic acid.

She eats wheatgerm, soya beans and nuts to up her
intake of spermidine – a dietary molecule that interacts with our DNA and mimics an anti-ageing process called
autophagy, which de-ages us at a cellular level.

Alcohol is basically a no-no. Liz has the ‘occasional glass’ of wine or tequila, but never more than two and never alone.

I chuck out the ready meals and plonk, roll up my sleeves and start cooking from scratch.

I grill venison, roast a chicken and make soups with the leftovers.

Eating at specific times works for me – I’m never very hungry first thing
    – and enjoying the protein part of each meal first means I’m fuller and
find it easy to cut back on my carb portions.

Gut health is a big focus, which means more fermented foods.
Much to my surprise, I love the kombucha and soon start to brew my
own using Liz’s Scoby. But homemade kimchi – fermented veg – is a harder sell.
When a lunch guest asks me why I’m forcing myself to eat something I dislike so much, I reply solemnly:
    ‘Liz told me to.’

Week two: I discover I can do only 3 press-ups
I really need help with exercise because sciatica means my normal routine has gone to pot.

Thankfully, Liz reckons just ten minutes a day of exercises such as squats, lunges
and press-ups is more valuable in the long term than a high-intensity gym session once
a week or a long park run.

She introduces me to her personal trainer, Michael Garry, who
delivers the (bombshell, but welcome) news that running
any distance over 5k can ‘start to have negative effects’ on our immune
system and bone strength. If you’re a runner, make it harder
by speeding up your time, not increasing your distance.

At Michael’s insistence, I consult a physio about my sciatica, and then he devises a daily regime for me.

I try press-ups and make it to three. Mortifying.
Perseverance is clearly key. As are weights, especially in your 50s.
‘The more muscle you have, the more your bones are protected
from osteoporosis, especially during midlife,’ says Michael.

For cardio, says Beatrice, I keep swimming twice a week. But instead of
plodding up and down the pool, I start to compete with myself, speeding up
    the laps

For my slack and flabby upper arms, he advises shoulder presses and hammer curls, with 3kg weights in both hands.

I try tricep dips off a chair, and quickly find
I can increase my reps – until by week four I’m doing two sets
    of 15.

I work out three times a week at home. At first the routine
takes 40 minutes but the more I do, the faster I do it, until the whole thing – stretching, press-ups, weights –
    takes just 20 minutes.

For cardio, I keep swimming twice a week.

But instead of plodding up and down the pool, I start to compete
with myself, speeding up the laps.

Week three: I slow the hormonal roller coaster
I’m menopausal and already on HRT, but I know I could improve how
I feel, which is sluggish and foggy.

Liz introduces me to something called the ‘estrobolome’ – the specific collection of bacteria in the gut that influences
how our body uses oestrogen. Put simply, some microbes improve the efficiency with which oestrogen reaches
tissues around the body, meaning we use our dwindling supplies more effectively.

The best way to support your estrobolome is by
eating fibre from veg, seeds and nuts, plus some of
the low-sugar fruits such as apples, berries and plums.
Back to the supermarket I go.

To boost the happy hormone serotonin, my saintly mentor insists I finish my morning shower with a minimum 60-second blast of icy cold water, resulting – she claims – in a ‘post-shock high’ and ‘genuine glow’.

Hmmm. I find it hard to relinquish the comfort of a hot shower and feel not happy but mutinous as I step out
    of the bathroom shivering.

Week four: I stand in the flower bed
Living Like Liz means getting outside first thing in the
morning and standing barefoot on the grass. ‘Grounding’ apparently enables electrons from the surface of the Earth
to transmit deep into the body, ‘where they have an anti-inflammatory effect’.

Liz tells me she does this in the tranquil grounds of her glorious pile
in the West Country. I do it in a flower bed in my
shared patio, still in my pyjamas, and feel, well, very self-conscious.
Later I graduate to the park, and – look away now – tread in dog mess,
which does not improve my emotional wellbeing.

She also encourages us to keep a Five Minute Gratitude Journal twice a day.
‘Gratitude is… a superpower that improves longevity and supports the immune
    system,’ she says.

I can’t help but think my better-off mate has rather a lot more to
smile about than me but, following instructions, I write down three
things I am grateful for every morning, and every night a short
list of ‘good things’ that happened that day,
plus another (longer) list of ‘things that are concerning me’.

My scepticism around gratitude slowly lifts as I find it does make me realise what’s important and what’s not.
It helps me see that things are a lot brighter than I thought.
Packing in a rush for a weekend away, I can’t find my journal and am surprised by how bereft
    I feel without it.

Week five: I start to sleep well
I’m a night owl – I stay up too late watching TV and end up hitting my snooze button past 8.30am…
    and occasionally edging towards 10am.

Liz reckons anyone can improve their sleep if they follow her routine, which means setting an evening alarm
for 9pm – to remind yourself to start ‘winding
    down for bed’.

Emails, social media and TV are switched off, replaced by a printed book or a podcast.
She takes 120g of magnesium glycinate in a milky drink half an hour before bed (and stops eating two hours before).

Living Like Liz means getting outside first thing in the
    morning

Liz wears a bamboo fibre nightie or pyjamas to keep warm because she sleeps
with an open window, which she covers with
blackout blinds and curtains, and sprinkles her pillow with a few drops of neat lavender essential
    oil.

I’m an e-book reader, so already failing at this routine.
Still, I leave my phone charging in the kitchen and buy a
regular alarm clock. The lavender oil makes me sneeze,
so I spray my pillows with C. Atherley Geranium Spray instead.

Oh, and I tape my lips up – Liz shows me how when she delivers the kombucha.

Forcing yourself to breathe through your nose is said to
    promote more restful sleep.

All of this is time-consuming and takes practise, but I find
the ritual soothing. Five weeks in, I’m
getting to sleep earlier than I have for years – at 10.30pm after 20 minutes drop-off time -and waking at 7.30am.

    How virtuous!

Week six: I crash off the wagon
I’m doing my best, but then I go for lunch with a friend who chirpily suggests a glass of wine,
which turns into a bottle. And then a second.

Later, with a daytime hangover, I head to M&S and find
reduced dauphinoise potatoes, which become dinner.

Liz has got me on a blood sugar tracker called Lingo (£289 for
two months – you jab a biosensor the size and
shape of a plastic bottle top into your upper arm, and then link it to an app on your phone), which shows a massive post-potato spike
and then a huge slump, which makes me tired and irritable.

Who knew that such deliciousness had such a high glycaemic
    load?

I call Liz to ‘fess up. ‘I have the odd day when I lie in, eat too much
cake and drink too much tequila,’ she says. ‘But that’s
fine because you then know what to do to put it right. It’s not about
    being perfect.’ Phew!

Week seven: I tackle my financial mess
Re-reading my journal really helps here. By documenting what I was so worried
about day by day, my perspective on it changes.

Here, in black and white, is a record of how
I felt at the start of this project and how I’ve evolved.

I’ve come unstuck – in a good way. I’m not going to pretend it’s
been easy because change is uncomfortable, but I realise there’s simply nothing to be
    gained from the worry spiral.

If freelance life is tough, and my income erratic, I’m going
to do something about it. Buoyed with the confidence that
comes with action, I apply for part-time admin jobs.

As personal trainer Michael observes as we work out on Zoom, I wouldn’t have done this before.
He’s right. Finally I’ve started to take control.

Week eight: And the winner is…
So how have eight weeks of Living Like Liz changed me?

Physically, I’m in much better shape. I’ve lost 7 lb and taken an extraordinary
5 in off my waist and 11 in off my body as a whole.

Those three pathetic press-ups have become a whopping 40 per workout, and the measly 3kg
weights are now 6kg, meaning I have proper bicep definition. The sleeveless tops
will be coming out again this party season.

Our essential guide to beating back pain: What’s causing your aches

My skin is clearer, eyes brighter and face more defined because I’ve
reduced the carb-inducing bloat. I’m sleeping better and feeling
    infinitely less anxious.

Most remarkably – and this is really life-changing – my sciatica
is almost gone and I can come off strong painkillers.
I know sciatica can disappear of its own accord, but the timing is surely no coincidence.
All those exercises have strengthened the muscles around my spine and buttocks and I’m convinced it’s done the trick.

I meet Liz for lunch, nervous about whether she’ll see a difference.
‘Oh wow,’ she says, taking a good look at her pupil.
‘Those arms! You definitely look younger.’

We chat for a while and she adds: ‘You also
seem more content and optimistic. You have an inner glow and a halo of positivity.’

Well, yes, she would say that, wouldn’t she?
(Probably. Though Liz is known for her candour, so it’s not a given.)
‘I wasn’t sure you were going to prioritise yourself enough and commit,’ she admits ‘You
weren’t an easy nut to crack so I’m thrilled.’

I’m delighted with my gold star. And I’m grateful to her, which
is one of the key lessons I’ve learned. Gratitude makes everything feel better.

That – along with the kombucha, ice-cold showers (which I have learned to love) and
the odd tequila – are the habits I’ll hold on to.

But not (shudder!) the kimchi or flower beds.

As Liz says, everyone deserves to have a better second half
    – and if I can do it, anyone can.

  71. A ménage à trois and intimacy outside the bedroom are sexual fantasies that we’ve all heard
    before.

But what about having sex in a desert, or even a storage unit?
These are just two of the unusual sexual fantasies social media
    users have confessed to trying.

A hilarious Reddit thread, named ‘what is a sexual fantasy
you do not recommend’, features the bizarre sexcapades of commenters
    — many of who bitterly regret their risqué acts.

The thread began with a question from user u/Fantastic-Ant-4429, who asked: ‘What is a sexual fantasy you do not recommend fulfilling?’

Having sex in the desert, a library and on a
plane were some of the most upvoted responses,
    Huffpost reported.

Reddit user u/ElPresidente714 admitted to trying
to have sex in the desert at night when coming
back from Vegas. But in reality, they were met with ‘creepy
crawly desert things don’t sleep at night’.

Another, u/DonSmitty said a ‘buddy in high school’ covered his girlfriend
(including her genitals) in chocolate syrup.
But it didn’t end well — she got infected with a ‘crazy’
    yeast infection.

Doing it in a storage unit was another unusual fantasy which
    ended badly. User u/isthisfark wrote: ‘There’s a
closing time and if you miss it you’ll get stuck behind the gates for the night.
Then the people who live there start rustling.’

Not everyone pursues or even plans to act on their sexual fantasies in real life.
But a handful of those who have tried to make their browser history a
reality have confessed they didn’t quite go to plan — a thread on Reddit revealed

The thread began with a question from user u/Fantastic-Ant-4429 , who asked: ‘What is a sexual fantasy you do not recommend
fulfilling?’ (pictured, Dakota Johnson and James Doman in Fifty Shades Darker)

Nationally 55 per cent of Brits reported having sex at least one a week, this rising
to 59 per cent of men and falling to 51 per cent of women

One commenter u/hot-snake-70 confessed they found out the hard way
that it ‘stings’ if you put your penis ‘in a glass of red wine’.

Threesomes were also suggested to be a bad idea with user u/Touristupdatenola adding:
‘If I wanted to disappoint two people simultaneously,
I’d have dinner with both my parents.’

Another user u/odysseus-23, warned against trying to have
sex in a library due to the likelihood of getting ‘caught on the cameras’.

And while joining the Mile High Club — engaging in sex acts while aboard an airplane — might sound exciting, some
warn that it is anything but.

‘Mile high club. Trust me, these bathrooms are getting smaller and smaller.
And people notice, they always notice,’ u/bigindianenergy29
    commented.

Some people came to the conclusion that the bed is the best location. u/Mundane-Garbage1003 wrote: ‘Most
“having sex in an unusual place” fantasies in my experience quickly turn into a lesson on why people
    usually just use the bed.’

Adult site reveals 10 of the most bizarre sex fantasies Brits love –
    including ‘giant’ women

In September, adult video site Clips4Sale published the intriguing findings of its analysis of the changing preferences of 250,
    000 daily website visitors.

The analysis revealed a whole host of obscure fantasies held by its users, including BBL — a preference for women who’ve undergone buttock-enlargement procedures — and Giantess, which
    describes a female giant.

Brits are among the most prolific porn users in the world,
with an average of 16,600,000 searches for adult content
    made each month.

The adult film industry is estimated to be worth more than £15billion a year.

While thousands of British men and women watch and enjoy pornography without issue, about one in 20 Brits have a porn addiction.

In some of the most extreme cases, experts have treated patients who watch x-rated content for
up to 14 hours a day, according to not-for-profit online
    therapy programme Pivotal Recovery.

However, Many suffers understandably avoid seeking professional help
out of shame and embarrassment for their affliction or fear
    of exposure.

  74. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you
simply didn’t refuse. Providing, of course, that the
bill was on someone else. Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes,
sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu, but no
one paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are
few better dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the
boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.

It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great
    unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty –
dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man.
The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare
of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent,
indeterminate beats throbs in the background. The whole place is scented with
    gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty,
clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather
communicate entirely via camera phone. Pose, click, check,
filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque
monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily
    confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study
in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar,
gently saline, raises them to the sublime. Only the price, at just under
£150 each, is ridiculous. But there are few better dishes on earth.

I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t. Obviously.
That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

  81. An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse.
Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure
didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu,
but no one paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only
the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss),
and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s. It
prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved
hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near
empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man. The
soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a
loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats
throbs in the background. The whole place is scented
    with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera
phone. Pose, click, check, filter, post.
Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily,
    glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’,
we would have barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber art.
A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar,
gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.

But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if I could.

But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with
caviar. One taste is never enough.

  84. The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who
may soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala
    Harris.

In her new No.1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Melania Trump shares a revealing look into her personal life and journey – from a
childhood in small-town Slovenia, to globetrotting pursuits as
a young model, to her courtship and marriage to
one of the world’s most famous men.

She also corrects the record, challenges her critics and
clarifies her positions on a range of issues from
abortion (she’s pro-choice) to the inclusion of biological men in women’s sports (female athletes must
    always be ‘protected and respected’).

In fact, she sounds like many female voters grappling with the whiplash changes
wrought by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s time in the White House.

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala Harris.
(Pictured: Kellyanne with Donald and Melania Trump at the White House in 2019).

‘The country is suffering,’ she writes. ‘We have wars around the world…
The border is open and dangerous… a lot of fentanyl is coming over and
killing our youth…. The economy is really not great, inflation is high.’

I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.

She has been unfairly maligned and the target of so much speculation and prevarication. That is why it has been so wonderful
to see her own ‘October Surprise’, a memoir in her own words on her own timeline, showing the measured, magnanimous woman tens of
    millions of Americans adore.

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.

Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be there for me.
She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and
checked in with me time and again.

After my divorce was finalized last year, Melania showed up again, supporting
me as any caring friend would and encouraging me to swing open soldered doors following a
time of personal upheaval and transition.

    EXCLUSIVE

KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don’s back! Here’s his new 2024 blueprint

And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania was admired and
beloved by the political and permanent staffers alike, asking after their
children by name, welcoming them to events big and small, and treating
    them with inclusivity and respect.

Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses her memoir to call out the ‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie
O’Donnell who, in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded
claims about Barron, then aged 10.

It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the
same liberal media and Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O’Donnell’s vile lie
wormed its way across social media.

It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child, especially when so many of us had treated Chelsea
Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs. Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.

I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and
regard her as a friend. (Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center).

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.
Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be there for me.

She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and
checked in with me time and again. (Pictured: Together with Trump in the
    White House in 2019).

But instead of going to war, Melania acted
swiftly and tenderly to shield her son.
She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered around children’s wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.

Melania has never been one for preening and posturing. Other first ladies used their roles to land on the
cover of fashion magazines, but she did so on her own, years before, as a successful model.

Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her
trust in them with self-serving lies and revisionist history,
she has declined, knowing that her silence is always more powerful.

Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his
wife as a top confidante and counselor. Whether as an international business
mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader of the free world,
it is Melania’s opinion that he has consistently sought.

Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a range
of advice, but he speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely
unique way. Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts her keen eye, sharp ear
    and sense of people.

I have witnessed their relationship up close, and it is one fundamentally built on mutual love and respect.
Recently, as Barron was heading off for college and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir,
I jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to be the second most
popular man and the second most prominent author in the household.

    He chuckled and relented.

Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing
to prove. She is not a typical political spouse rushing
to the cameras on matters that are best handled privately, or
loudly offering insights or slights about her husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.

She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying to control –
looking at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent, a
product of her own choices, comfortable in her own skin.

She has been by Trump’s side the entire time. Though never in his shadow.
In fact, from that very first moment they descended
the golden escalator, she’s been leading the way.

Wallflowers get their name from their habit of growing
    near  stone walls.

Erysimum cheiri are shortlived evergreen perennials or biennials
    often grown as spring bedding.

You can buy them as plug plants now and get them in the ground to flower early
next year. This is a fun activity to do with children or
grandchildren. All you need is a well-weeded flower bed in a sunny spot, gardening gloves, and a
    trowel.

Dig a hole so that the base of the plant is level
with the soil. Pop in your young wallflower, firm the earth
around it and water well. Repeat, leaving 20cm between plants.

They can grow to up to 50cm high depending on the variety and
come in a range of bright colours. E. ‘Fireglow’ is a dazzling red and orange
variety; E. ‘Bowles Mauve’ is light purple, while E.
‘Sunset Primrose’ is a fragrant lemon yellow.

Erysimum cheiri (pictured) are shortlived evergreen perennials or biennials often grown as
    spring bedding

This is also the time to plant plugs of Sweet Williams
(Dianthus barbatus). These are also biennials or short-lived perennials which grow to between 40 to 60cm with clusters of carnation-like flowers
from February to June in colours from white to deep pink,
often in a combination of two tones. They prefer well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil
    in full sun.

    PLANT OF THE WEEK

    ACTEA SIMPLEX (BRUNETTE)

Actea simplex or baneberry is a herbaceous perennial,
which grows well in moist soil in dappled shade.

In autumn, it produces spikes of tiny fragrant white flowers
which are purple in bud. These are a good source of late nectar for pollinating insects and are followed by poisonous berries.

Actea simplex ‘Brunette’ is a cultivar that
has been given the Royal Horticultural Society Award of
Garden Merit. Its deep purplish brown foliage contrasts
well with its ghostly white blooms.

Dwarf narcissi are ideal for pots and make a cheerful welcome if you place them

  86. Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling stations reopened two days after a chaotic election, set to test the ruling party’s 34-year
grip on power, was marred by technical problems.

Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s election was
marked by long delays and labelled a “sham” by the
    opposition.

Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative polls, billed as the toughest yet for the
South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia’s 1990
    independence from South africa.

Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems, including issues with tablets used to register
voters and shortages of ballot papers.

In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of batteries
and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters still in the queues, it said.

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the
electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until Saturday evening to vote.

In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about 60 people showed
up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at 4:30 am.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until
11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as
he had exams the next day.

Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie

“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said.
But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”

The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for a
    halt in the electoral process.

Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue
a joint statement, according to Christine Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.

Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.

Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who
could become the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face an unprecedented second
round in the mineral rich country.

“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,” said voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote
on Wednesday because of long queues despite trying four different polling stations.

“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked the 49-year-old security agent.

“It was to get people frustrated.”

For the star-studded affair located at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Rooney, 39,

The couple – who ‘secretly wed’ recently – looked happier than ever as they posed for sweet snaps on the

Rooney looked out of this world as she slipped into a floral sheer dress and flashed her underwear underneath.

The glitzy gala had no shortage of A-list star power as they were also joined by the likes of supermodel Kendall Jenner as
well as fan-favorite actress and newly minted billionaire Selena Gomez.

Phoenix (born Bottom) and the two-time Oscar nominee are also parents
of four-year-old son River Mara Phoenix named after Joaquin’s big brother who died, age
23, from an overdose of morphine and cocaine on Halloween 1993.

‘I love it. I love it so much. I think it’s the best thing in the world,’ Rooney gushed of motherhood on the LaunchLeft Podcast last year.

‘It doesn’t feel like a two-actor house because I didn’t work for the
first three and a half years we were together.

Basically since we’ve been together, I only worked one or two times and one was really small and short.

  92. There are no diameters for squares; let us just make that clear.

Diameter only applies for circles (Line that goes through centre of circle
and touches edges). However, diameters in squares would be simply
length(but went through centre). Therefore it could be anywhere between 15-~21.2132.

(Straight length/width or diagonal or anywhere else.)

    Hope this helps 😀
