Amid the early returns, a number of fans took
up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature
of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the
first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding
that it was ‘100% as divisive as people are making
it out to be. I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they
presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter
eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no plot’
and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming

He said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made. It has no plot.
We would sit there, me and these other guys and I’d go,
‘What the f*** is this?’ And they’d go, ‘This is
going to bomb, man.’ It’s not even hate-watchable.

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social media after its
release last month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and
is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,’
a source exclusively told DailyMail.com. 

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics
fan base.’

They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as
they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.’

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive
rights

As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire,
each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme
— abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.

In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both
topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.

And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a
tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly
will count.

In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange
T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters to back a
ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state
constitution — and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice
President Harris.

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions
imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of
federal abortion rights, Ireland, a registered nurse, has worked in several states where
abortion is banned or severely limited.

Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous consequences for women having problem pregnancies or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse
to treat them.

“Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,” she told AFP.

– ‘Abortion is murder’ –

As Ireland carries her message to potential voters,
she noted, particularly to young people who may be less likely to vote,
that it was Donald Trump who appointed the three justices
who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.

“It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,” Ireland
said.

But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.

“I do think that abortion is murder,” said Pedro Lopez, a
20-year-old college student.

“There are cases of incest or rape” that merit exceptions, he conceded, “but that’s very small.”

He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.

“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he said.

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”

So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal to let local law enforcement detain, arrest
and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the country illegally —
powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,”
Lopez said.

– Mixed impact –

The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote — on ballot questions at
the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House that activists hope.

Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona,
with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.

Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian,
a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.

Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights
and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.

Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not
just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh,
a Republican and an Arizona state senator.

The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically
her promise to maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.

The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another
Mayfair backstreet. But a £2,000 a year membership
fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to
the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty – dining room,
lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a
very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps,
indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.

Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it
ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady
of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst
into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have
barely blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream,
are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth.
I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t. Obviously.
That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team
now keen to quickly push out other projects to help distract from the furor over the film, insiders claim.

Todd Phillips‘ sequel was officially released in theaters on October 4, but despite expectations, it bombed,
raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic
book movie history.

Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside
Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the Joker – a role that won him
the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing
ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month.

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before
it premiered,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com. 

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base.’

They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from

‘She is disappointed that Joker is pretty
much a bomb,’ they said.

it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved.’

Tarantino was set to create The Movie Critic which would have been his tenth and final film, but
on April 17, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the project was canceled.

The famed director is now believed to be working up a new project to mark his final
cinematic release.

Joker: Folie à Deux has flopped at the box office, with the psychological musical thriller also landing the lowest CinemaScore for a comic book movie

Gaga, real name is Stefani Germanotta, is hoping
the Joker 2 flop will just be a small blip in her career, after the
film received a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a
comic book movie. 

Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters
earlier this year and also received terrible reviews — holds the higher score of C+.

Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release
in 2019 and eventually took a little over $1
billion in the global box office. 

The first movie – which was also directed by Phillips –
had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget more than doubled to
around $200 million for Folie À Deux. 

The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.   

It had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number drastically dropped amid mixed reviews before release. 

Audiences have since shared their opinions on the
sequel, which features multiple musical sequences. 

‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this,’ wrote one on X. ‘What happened to the script?’

Another user added: ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original
wasn’t a musical.’ 

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics
before it premiered’

‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,
‘ shared a third, along with a monkey staring out
a window. 

One fan branded it ‘bad,’ adding:’ It was pretentious and dull.
Has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.

‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too.
They shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’ 

Another said: ‘The audience that loved the first movie is

by a fellow inmate who could in fact by the real Joker.

But others did jump in in defense of the film, with one hailing it ‘amazing.’

‘100% as divisive as people are making it out to be,’ they
continued. ‘I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they
presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing
aspects.’

Another user said: ‘I kinda loved Joker 2.
I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom
and the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for
the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels
to introduce a musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

Six months after making its world premiere at the Bentonville Film Festival,
The Seven Faces Of Jane has dropped in select theaters and VOD.

And as part of promotion some of the cast and crew for the
anthology film were on hand for the West Coast premiere in Los Angeles on Friday night.

The movie consists of eight short films, all of which
star Gillian Jacobs as the title character.

The anthology has eight different directors, including Jacobs along
with Ken Jeong, Gia Coppola, Ryan Heffington, Alexandra Cassavetes, Boma Iluma, Julian Acosta and Alex Takacs.

The anthology film follows Jane, who tumbles through a gauntlet of surreal, beautiful, and heartbreaking adventures, each one
more unexpected than the last. While dropping off her daughter at a summer camp for
the first time, she encourages her reticent child to engage in new experiences.

Jane finds herself heeding her own advice.

Designer Sergio Guardi showed up in a gray tweed suit for the event, while actress Lupe Carranza went with
a black dress and a red-patterned blouse.

It reportedly took only 15 days to shoot The Seven Faces Of Jane, starting in late August 2021, which was still during the height of the COVID-19
pandemic.

The Bentonville Film Festival, which focuses on diversity,
was founded by actress Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment executive
Trevor Drinkwater.

Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday said it would be filing a premarket
tobacco product application (PMTA) in the United States for its IQOS ILUMA product
in October.

The company at its investor day said that while the PMTA timeline remains “hard to predict”,
it expects the launch of the ILUMA heated tobacco units towards the
second half of its three-year forecast period of 2024 to 2026.

IQOS heats up packets of ground tobacco but does not burn them, a
process the company says potentially results in fewer health risks than traditional
smoking

A PMTA is required to sell new tobacco products in the
United States, with manufacturers required to provide scientific data demonstrating
a product is appropriate for the protection of public health.

Joaquin Phoenix has revealed that he spoke with filmmaker Christopher Nolan about playing Joker which ultimately went to Heath Ledger.

The 50-year-old actor – whose latest flick Joker: Folie À Deux
could be streamed now – got candid about potentially
playing the supervillain before he actually portrayed him.

Joaquin recently appeared on Rick Rubin’s Tetragrammaton podcast as he revealed that he spoke to the 54-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker
Nolan about portraying Joker over a decade before.

He said: That didn’t… wasn’t going to happen for a number of reasons.
I wasn’t ready then.

‘That’s one of those things sometimes where you go: “Why am I not doing this project? What is stopping me from doing this? Well it’s not about me, there’s something else. There’s another person that’s going to do something that’s like, I can’t imagine what it would be if we didn’t have Heath Ledger‘s performance in that film.”‘

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the
film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution, according to the report.

It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office
to break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros.
sources claim the number is $375 million.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report,
saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives” are grossly wrong and continues
a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’

‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s
opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing
and ancillary run.’

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two
weeks of release.

In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally
after three days of release.

The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film was considered a surefire
hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics
and failed to ignite at the box office. 

Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombed at the box office on opening night. 

The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4.

The sequel has been roundly criticized for being
a musical and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with director Todd Phillips’ process telling
Variety he ‘wanted nothing to do with DC’ during the making of the
film, with DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last
month. 

A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city, it makes
maybe $150 [million] worldwide. Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was
Joker.’

In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not include a DC
Studios logo.

A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the
Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.

Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips,
DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.

It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter:
‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of
a Warner Bros. movie.’

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips
shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the
director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’

The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent less.

‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to

A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.

A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one could get through to Todd.

the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the
Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the
decision to bring the film to Venice. 

Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.
