Dal sogno da bambina di diventare medico e professore universitario, alla nomina di prima Rettrice della Sapienza Università di Roma, così il percorso di Antonella Polimeni ci ricorda come la passione per il proprio lavoro sia il grande motore del successo, rendendo la fatica più sopportabile e le asperità più digeribili.
Ospite della Fondazione Marisa Bellisario, la Rettrice s’interroga e risponde su temi cruciali quali formazione, giovani e pari opportunità, confrontandosi con la Presidente Lella Golfo e con la Direttrice di IO DONNA Danda Santini.
Dati Istat alla mano, le donne laureate in Italia sono il 22,4% contro il 16,8% degli uomini, percentuale maggiore rispetto alla media europea. Le studentesse sono migliori in ingresso come performance, e migliori in uscita perché si laureano prima e con voti più alti. Allora perché, e cosa raccontare alle giovani che, nel giro di 5 anni dall’ingresso nel mercato del lavoro, passano da eccellenti risultati, in un contesto universitario meritocratico, a situazioni di disparità di retribuzione e ruolo?
Secondo la Rettrice è necessario lavorare su due livelli. Il primo parte dalla scuola inferiore e superiore, attraverso attività di mentorship che sostengano le ragazze nella scelta del percorso formativo, orientandole verso le materie STEM. Il secondo, invece, consiste in esempi concreti di autorevolezza e leadership femminile.
Toccando tematiche come disoccupazione femminile, denatalità e genitorialità, emerge ancor più chiaramente il ruolo centrale dell’Università a sostegno della società, in primo luogo per la formazione di nuove professionalità ma ancor di più nell’ambito del longlife learning, dove l’aggiornamento continuo delle competenze diventa ancor più rilevante per le lavoratrici che dovranno conciliare vita-lavoro.
Oggi l’Università ha l’opportunità di raccogliere la sfida della Parità di Genere, sia sviluppando un percorso di conoscenza e professionalizzazione dedicato alle giovani donne, sia supportando le migliori menti femminili.
Il motto di Antonella, «Pari opportunità per pari capacità», suona come buon auspicio per il futuro ma allo stesso tempo invita subito all’azione, quella di puntare sul Fattore D.
Il Fattore D è la cifra della leadership femminile, è il valore aggiunto che la differenzia da quella maschile e, se affermata in maniera sana, mette in luce capacità femminili come l’ascolto, la mediazione e il problem solving, che fanno la differenza nei risultati. Non a caso il World Economic Forum stima un aumento del Pil del 7% a fronte non solo di una maggiore occupazione femminile, ma anche di un aumento delle donne al vertice.
Ci salutiamo con una maggior consapevolezza dell’eccellenza femminile all’interno delle Università e del ruolo centrale e fondamentale degli Atenei nell’orientare e guidare le nuove generazioni, prima e dopo il percorso universitario, all’interno di una società per molti aspetti ancora ostile.
